The No Frills Guide To Easy Camping

Are you scared to try camping because you have never been camping before? Don’t let fear hold you back. You just need some confidence in yourself along with some useful knowledge. Fortunately, this is exactly where you need to be to get that advice. Take a look at the informative tips below.

Before you head out on your long-awaited camping trip, make sure the area where you plan to camp doesn’t require a camping permit. If you happen to camp in a place that does require one and you didn’t get one, then you could be facing quite a hefty ticket or fine from a local forest ranger.

If you have little ones camping with you, pack a few art supplies. When you get to your site, show them how to do leaf rubbings. There are always a variety of leaves in all shapes and sizes, so trying them all out will take a while. The kids will be happy and you will have some peace and quiet while you relax and watch them.

Figure out your new gear before you go camping. The practice does really help. No one wants to get to the campground, only to find out that they don’t know how to use something or set up their own tent. Practice with your new gear before you ever set foot on the campground.

While a campfire gives off enough light in the general area around it, you want to be sure you take along a flashlight on your camping trip if you plan to venture outside of the campfire’s glow. This is a definite safety precaution you don’t want to ignore. It can be quite dark out there in the woods at nighttime.

Avoid any wildlife you may come into contact with. Bears have become a fairly large problem with campers. In some parks they have been known to rip open the trunk of a car to gain access to food. Raccoons are also a big problem in many campgrounds. Not only are they smart and can gain access to your food supplies easily, but they can carry disease as well.

If you are going camping with your pets or children, you need to take a few extra precautions. Try to teach your kids the basics of camping safety. They need to know what to do if they get lost and should each have a small survival kit. Make sure you have leashes for any pets and make sure they are current with all vaccinations.

Take a first-aid class, especially if children are camping with you. If something unexpected comes up, you will be ready to handle it. In addition, make sure you do enough research on the area. Knowing about the native species in your camp area, such as snakes or other dangerous animals, is essential.

With this new knowledge and attitude, you should be well-prepared to jump out into the wild and battle Mother Nature herself. Whether you are planning a faraway excursion or settling down in your own backyard, keep what you’ve just learned in mind. Camping is something that you’ll be able to enjoy quite a bit after reading this.
